• Comments Off on How do I prepare my custom templates to be compatible with the SlideSpeak system?

You can now create a presentation in the SlideSpeak app using your own custom template file!

All you have to do is create a PowerPoint template that is compatible with SlideSpeak’s AI-driven presentation generator. SlideSpeak uses a custom naming system in order to detect which text elements should be filled with your content.

Follow these easy steps to tell SlideSpeak which layout to use and where to place content like titles and text:

Step 1. Open your template in Microsoft PowerPoint

    • Navigate to the View Tab, select Slide Master. This opens the master view, where all your slide layouts appear in the left-hand pane.

Step 2. Select one of the layout to rename

    • Right click on the layout, and enter the appropriate name following SlideSpeak’s naming conventions (e.g., SS_COVER, SS_DEFAULT, SS_ITEMS_1, etc.). These names help SlideSpeak recognise and use the right layout for each slide.

Step 3. Within the layout, specify which text elements will be filled with content on each slide

    • Navigate to Arrange, select Selection Pane. This opens a list of all text and image elements on the layout.
    • Rename each layer according to the SlideSpeak’s placeholder conventions (e.g., SS_TITLE, SS_CONTENT, SS_IMAGE, etc.). These names tell SlideSpeak where to place your slide’s title, text, or image.
