SlideSpeak gives users more customizability at the start of the process, whereas Gamma pushes users to edit the presentation once it is produced.

As you can see in this clip, the step by step guide is very easy to follow. There is little to no learning curve involved with the SlideSpeak platform. Even a user who has never previously used an AI platform, can easily create a presentation.

Creating a presentation with Gamma

Much like SlideSpeak, Gamma offers users the ability to select how they want to create their presentation.

Users can choose from pasting in text, generate from a prompt and by importing a file or URL.

The creation process is also very reliable which is crucial for users. We tried the platform for a month and very rarely encountered any technical issues.

So the creation process has both SlideSpeak and Gamma performing fairly evenly. But when it comes to ease of use, SlideSpeak comes out on top.

As we will discuss later, Gamma has some really cool features like the drag and drop editor + team collaboration. But there is quite a lot happening on the screen once the presentation has been produced.

So for users who are not technologically advanced, or haven't used creation tools before, there may be a bit of a steeper learning curve.

Ultimately, you probably want the AI to do the majority of the hard work so that you can simply add the finishing touches.

SlideSpeak has focused on keeping the presentation creation process simple and easy. Whereas, Gamma feels a little more advanced with a greater emphasis on editing the content/design yourself.

SlideSpeak lacks some of the features that Gamma has but from an editing point of view but it feels and runs a lot smoother thanks to its simplicity.

How easy is it to create a presentation with Gamma?

Gamma still has a great user experience.

Below you can see the interface for editing your presentation with Gamma. You have editing tools on the right hand side as well as the top bar.

These editing tools are very useful but we think there is maybe too much happening on the screen.

The interface is very useful and it looks really nice, but perhaps it is best for a certain subset of users. Consultants or designers for example.

Therefore, your rating of Gamma's usability will depend on the level of design knowledge that the user possesses.

SlideSpeak has focused on keeping the presentation creation process simple and easy.

It lacks some of the features that Gamma has but from a user experience standpoint, it feels and runs a lot smoother thanks to its simplicity.

Therefore, round 1 goes to SlideSpeak.

Round #2: Presentation Design

Question: Which presentation software has the best designs?

Variety in themes & templates is important.

Users want clean designs and both SlideSpeak and Gamma produce just that.

When comparing the two, SlideSpeak has fewer templates than Gamma.

We think the SlideSpeak template designs are nicer but ultimately, there are less of them. So the user has less customizability.

In this section we will show you the templates on offer with each plaform.

SlideSpeak has 8 templates- which when compared to Gamma, is not a lot.

Those templates look good and offer different styles to users e.g. professional, minimalist and creative.

When SlideSpeak releases more templates, we may revisit this article. But until then, we think Gamma has the advantage in terms of presentation design.

Gamma separates their templates by "themes". They include dark, light, professional and colorful.

So Gamma certainly caters to all audiences.

Each theme contains multiple variations of color schemes and designs. Offering users a lot of customizability.

Overall, Gamma offers users the best presentation designs due to the color schemes and variety on offer for all use cases.

Round #3: Features

Question: Which platform is best for creating presentations with AI?

Both tools can create high quality PowerPoint presentations with AI.

SlideSpeak focuses more on creating presentations, whereas Gamma allows users to also create web pages and documents on their platform. This variety is great but for this article we are solely focusing on presentations.

Crucially, this round looks at the ways in which presentations can be created- from AI prompts to uploading documents.

Let's begin with SlideSpeak and explore their features.

Creating a presentation with SlideSpeak

By using the additional SlideSpeak features, users can save time and create higher quality AI presentations.

So what are these features and how do they work?

Firstly, users can interact with their files via:

• Speaking with the files
• Summarizing the files with AI

In terms of what files SlideSpeak supports, users can upload files of their choosing in the following format:

• PDF
• Document
• PowerPoint
• Excel file

Users will then click on the documents and interact with the SlideSpeak AI chatbot.

Many users will ask for a summary of the document. You can then ask follow-up questions and the AI chatbot will produce the answer based on the information within the document.

Being able to break down complex documents with AI summaries is extremely useful. Users can then create a presentation based on the answers the AI chatbot has produced, meaning the presentation will only contain the information you deem as useful.

Here is how it works:

Upload your chosen document on the homepage of SlideSpeak.

You will then be taken to the document preview where you can interact with the chatbot. Here we have asked the chatbot to generate a bullet point summary of a PDF document that discusses merger and acquisition trends for 2024.

From this summary, we can create a PowerPoint presentation. Simply click "Create a presentation".

Then you can preview the presentation with the information included and download it as a PowerPoint.

So as you can see, SlideSpeak features revolve around improving the experience of creating a presentation. Whereas, as we will see shortly, Gamma features focus on a variety of use cases such as websites and documents.

Creating a presentation with Gamma

As we have mentioned, Gamma allows users to create website pages and documents as well as presentations.

The process still remains the same- you input an AI prompt and then select your theme. Gamma will then create cards that display the relevant information.

Designing web pages is an excellent feature and the design interface is still the same, so you can create custom elements and cards.

But for this comparison, we are focusing on the ability to create a PowerPoint presentation. Of which, it seems as though SlideSpeak offers users the ability to do more.

Gamma allows users to import files, however you can only enhance them. You cannot really add content to them or convert them into a presentation very easily.

Here we can see that I uploaded a 2023 Uber financial earnings document.

The AI produced a card by card summary of the information, although the layout it was presented in was quite messy and didn't feel too user-friendly.

The overall result was a little underwhelming. It felt like the AI generated prompt that we used in Round 1, produced much better results.

So perhaps, Gamma hasn't quite developed the correct algorithm for this "Import file" feature.

Which platform has the best features?

Both tools will use AI to help users make a PowerPoint presentation.

Gamma offers users the ability to edit the presentation in greater detail due to their in-app editor and drag & drop feature.

However, SlideSpeak is the better tool for users whose main goal is to create a presentation with AI.

The ability to interact with your documents and produce presentations based on their contents, gives SlideSpeak the upper hand in this comparison.

But it was a close one!
