About this design

Where the Drafting Room style comes from, and what it signals.

Drafting Room is a working engineering drawing. The background is drafting blue #173A66, the same tone as a traditional blueprint, covered edge to edge with a two-weight graph-paper grid at 6% and 12% white opacity, with heavier lines repeating every 120px. The title block is a structural fixture, the same ruled table that appears in the bottom-right corner of every formal drawing.

Typography follows the silkscreen-and-stencil convention: Saira for primary text in near-white #EAF3FF, Spline Sans Mono for all labels in uppercase, both Google Fonts. Dimension lines appear beneath headings: a thin rule with arrowheads at both ends and a small measurement label in the middle. You draw bars and shapes as outlines with transparent fills; the highlighted element gets 45-degree diagonal hatching instead of solid color, which is how a draftsperson marks a cut section.

Architecture and engineering reviews, construction-program presentations, infrastructure roadmaps, and technical audits all read well here. Audiences who already think in plans and specifications recognize the format immediately.

Use it for

  • Architecture and structural engineering project reviews
  • Construction program and infrastructure roadmaps
  • Technical audits and specification presentations
  • Startup or product decks targeting engineering audiences
  • System design and platform architecture walkthroughs

Skip it for

  • Consumer pitches or creative presentations; the blueprint aesthetic reads as cold to non-technical audiences
  • Anything that requires photographs; the prompt bans images outside the blue-and-white palette

The slide design prompt

This is the exact text that gets sent to your AI.

Create a presentation styled as an engineering blueprint, the 'Drafting Room' theme. Background: drafting blue (#173A66) covered edge to edge with a fine graph-paper grid (thin lines at about 6 percent white opacity every 24px, heavier lines every 120px). All linework and frames in pale blueprint white (#9FC6FF); primary text near-white (#EAF3FF) set in 'Saira'; labels in 'Spline Sans Mono' uppercase (both Google Fonts). Every slide carries two fixtures: small '+' registration marks in all four corners, and a title block table in the bottom-right with ruled rows for PROJECT, SHEET, DATE and REV. Headlines: plain uppercase with a dimension line underneath, a thin rule with arrowheads at both ends and a small measurement label in the middle. Shapes and bars are drawn as white outlines with transparent fills; the highlighted element is filled with 45-degree diagonal hatching instead of solid color. Use dashed lines for secondary or projected elements, and circled two-digit numbers for list items. Strictly avoid: solid color fills other than hatching, rounded corners, shadows, any hue outside the blue-and-white range.

Use this theme for my slides. Ask me what the presentation is about first, then apply the theme to every slide.

How to use this prompt

From copied text to a finished Drafting Room deck in four moves.

  1. 01

    Copy the prompt

Use the copy button, or open it pre-filled in Claude or ChatGPT with one click from the panel on this page.

  2. 02

    Tell the AI your topic

The prompt instructs the AI to ask what your presentation is about first. A sentence or a pasted outline is enough.

  3. 03

    Generate and iterate

Ask for more slides or swap a layout. The avoid list at the end of the prompt keeps Drafting Room on-style while the content changes.

  4. 04

Or skip straight to a deck

SlideSpeak turns your topic or document into a finished Drafting Room presentation, exportable as PowerPoint or PDF.
