Where the Netflix Culture Deck style comes from, and what it signals.
Netflix Culture Deck borrows the form of 'Freedom & Responsibility', the 125-slide presentation Reed Hastings published in 2009 and one of the most shared business documents online. It had almost no design: white slides, plain sans type, a red heading and a sentence blunt enough to argue with. This is an unofficial homage with no affiliation, license or endorsement from Netflix, Inc. The sample content belongs to a fictional games studio.
Every slide is white #ffffff. Section titles and the key idea on each slide are Netflix red #e50914, headlines are black #000000, body text is #221f1f and supporting lines are gray #6d6d6d. Everything is set in Libre Franklin, a Franklin Gothic revival that matches the plain register of the 2009 deck. You get no photos, icons or illustrations. Statements run at 44 to 52px, values sit in a red-and-black roster, and the keeper test gets its own slide.
Use it when your words carry the argument: a culture document, a values rollout, a leadership principles deck, an all-hands on what you reward and what you won't tolerate. A 20-word statement alone on a white slide has nowhere to hide, so you have to write it well.
